With the support of the artistic and pedagogical excellence that distinguishes tenor José Manuel Chú, more than 50 singers are participating in the Vocal Enhancement Course, held in the Ángela Peralta Choir Hall at the Municipal Center for the Arts (CMA).
The workshop brings together students from the CMA’s Bachelor of Vocal Performance program and soloists from the Ángela Peralta Choir. During a week of intensive work, participants will strengthen their vocal technique and stage presence. The training program will culminate with a closing concert on Saturday, August 15th, at 7:00 p.m. at Casa Haas.
For maestro José Manuel Chú, returning to Mazatlán holds special significance, as it was in this port city that he took his first professional steps as a member of the Ángela Peralta Choir and as a soloist under the guidance of maestro Antonio González.
“We are going to work to develop their technical and dramatic skills, to see what we discover in them. On this first day, I have encountered several surprises, with Sinaloan voices, as always marvelous, and what I most desire is to instill in them an awareness of bel canto, so that if we find any weaknesses, we can help them correct them,” expressed the tenor, who thanked maestro María Murillo for the invitation to lead this process.
During the sessions, the specialist approaches the voice as a holistic instrument. The program not only seeks to perfect the production and projection of sound, but also to enhance the emotional and expressive capacities of the young people, allowing the choir members to discover new possibilities as soloists that will lead them to improve as singers.
With these types of spaces, the Municipal Institute of Cultura promotes artistic improvement and the consolidation of new generations of singers in the region.
