Children in Mazatlán enjoyed a new adventure on Thursday afternoon at the municipal libraries by participating in the “Little Readers” program, which allowed them to let their imaginations soar through reading and arts and crafts.

Staff celebrated the upcoming arrival of autumn with the children by reading *Espantapájaros* (Scarecrow) by Celerina Sánchez. This story captures the thoughts, worldview, and values of Mixtec culture, adapting them in a gentle and accessible way for young children. After discussing the story, the children created scarecrows using tree leaves to mark the season. “Ingeniero Manuel Bonilla” Library (Centro Neighborhood)
Continuing with the activities for this much-awaited time of year, the librarians shared the story *A Story a Day for 12 Months of the Year* by Walt Disney. After the reading, the staff invited the attendees to discuss the arrival of autumn and its characteristics. To wrap up the program, participants created a pumpkin craft using tissue paper.

On Thursday morning, library staff launched the “Story Time” program. Together with first-year kindergarten students from Hans Christian Andersen Kindergarten, they read *The Journey of the Little Elephant* (*El viaje de elefantina*). As a creative activity, the children colored and assembled a paper elephant; for motor skills development, they created figures out of modeling clay and used plastic blocks to build towers. Finally, they participated in an earthquake drill.
