At just 17 years old—and following a promising debut on June 6th at the *Día de la Música* (Music Day) festival—Carmelita Zamora is making confident strides in her professional career. On the night of September 15th, the young singer captivated hundreds of attendees as part of the lineup for the national holiday celebrations.
Blending emotion, nerves, and her signature energy, Carmelita took the stage to perform “Fallaste Corazón” and “No Volveré.” Regarding her song choices, the artist shared that the first track was a tribute to her idol, Rocío Dúrcal, while the second was selected to connect with the audience’s pride and shared cultural memories.
“I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. My goal was always for people to enjoy the performance, get excited, and sing along with me,” she said before taking the stage.
For Carmelita, music represents far more than just an artistic pursuit; she says that singing stirs up a range of emotions—and, above all, brings her happiness.
“It excites me, stresses me out, and entertains me, but most of all, it makes me happy. I really enjoy it,” she remarked.
Her passion for music has also led her to perform at various venues in Mazatlán, including local restaurants.
Carmelita is currently putting the finishing touches on her debut record, which will feature six songs: four original tracks and two covers of Mexican classics. With five songs already recorded, the project is entering its final stage of production and is set for an upcoming release on social media and digital platforms.
Grateful to the Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art for the invitation to this iconic celebration, the young artist noted that the opportunity to sing at Plazuela República on September 15th exceeded her expectations. “I thought it would be a traditional celebration—just a dinner—but I was so happy to take part in such a special occasion,” she concluded.
