CMA Vocal Students Showcase Talent in “Mexican Concert”
Vocal performance students from the Municipal Center for the Arts (CMA) overcame their nerves and captivated the audience during the “Mexican Concert,” held under the direction of instructors Eduardo Tapia and José Miguel Valenzuela. The performance took place at the Music Museum.
Instructor Eduardo Tapia welcomed the audience and introduced the eighteen vocal performance students—along with one student from the music workshop—who took the stage ready to impress and to demonstrate to family and friends that their time studying at the CMA School of Music has been well spent.
The concert series aims to provide students with monthly opportunities to present themed performances as part of their training and stage experience. The students select their own songs and costumes to suit the specific theme of the performance.
During the concert, the Mariachi Centenario Mexicano provided musical accompaniment for the aspiring artists. The students performed songs using various vocal techniques, including “El Pastor,” “Deja que salga la Luna,” “Si nos dejan,” “Aires del Mayab,” “Costumbres,” and “Amor Eterno,” among other musical works that have shaped the history of Mexican music.
Between songs, the captivated audience showered the young performers with enthusiastic applause.
