Singing for the sheer love of the art is a defining trait of Dulce Martínez Valdés, a young woman who has embraced the microphone as a lifelong companion since childhood. Although she does not sing professionally, her passion and talent have led her to perform before hundreds of spectators, with the night of September 15th marking a significant milestone in her journey.
On the iconic esplanade of Plazuela República, Dulce was part of the artistic lineup presented by Cultura Mazatlán during the national holiday celebrations. During her performance, she sang “Besos y copas” and “Ahora que estuviste lejos” with deep emotion, forging an immediate connection with the audience, who sang along to every song.
For the performer—who works professionally as a Human Resources manager in the private sector—the experience represented a personal achievement:
“I am so happy and thrilled; it was a wonderful experience for me. It was the first time I had performed on such a large stage—something I had only ever imagined as a child. Now that dream has come true, and I am ready to accept any future invitations from Cultura Mazatlán,” the young woman said excitedly.
Dulce Martínez expressed her gratitude for the opportunity provided by the Municipal Institute of Culture, Art, and Tourism. After an audition, the institute encouraged her to participate in both “Día de la Música” (Music Day), held on June 6th, and the patriotic celebration on September 15th.
Motivated by this experience, she aims to continue refining her vocal technique. Her upcoming plans include joining the Ángela Peralta Choir, a group directed by María Murillo. The choir rehearses on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and welcomes anyone interested in vocal training. For more information, call 669 982 4446 or 47.
