Artists from the Camerata Mazatlán, the CMA Vocal Ensemble, and guest soloists presented a moving repertoire that was acclaimed by the audience.

With the aim of bringing the fine arts to new audiences, showcasing the virtuosity of artists trained at the Municipal Center for the Arts (CMA), and connecting with Mazatlán families in their everyday gathering spots, the Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art successfully presented a concert at the Señor de la Misericordia Church as part of the “Culture in Your Community” program.

More than 500 people gathered for a musical evening unprecedented in the area, successfully promoting upcoming events for the Autumn-Winter Season produced by the Municipal Institute of Culture.

The featured performers included soprano Rebeca de Rueda and tenor Alejandro Yépez (both with distinguished careers in national vocal competitions), young virtuoso tenor Eduardo Tapia, and the Municipal Center for the Arts Vocal Ensemble—directed by Maestro Juan Pablo García—all accompanied by the Camerata Mazatlán under the direction of Maestro Sergio Freeman.

*A journey from sacred repertoire to popular music*

The program opened with the solemnity and mastery of Johann Pachelbel’s *Canon in D Major*, followed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s *Missa brevis in G Major* (“Pastoral”), K. 140. The Vocal Ensemble and Camerata Mazatlán performed all six movements of the mass: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, and Agnus Dei. The concert then shifted toward Italian songs and universal classics, featuring a duet performance of Eduardo di Capua’s *’O sole mio* by tenors Alejandro Yépez and Eduardo Tapia; Gioachino Rossini’s *Danza napolitana*; *Torna a Surriento*, performed by Yépez; and the famous *Funiculì, funiculà*, delivered with verve and ease by tenor Eduardo Tapia.

The program continued with the magnificent voice of tenor Alejandro Yépez, who enveloped the venue in a sublime atmosphere with his rendition of Paolo Tosti’s *L’alba separa…*. Next, soprano Rebeca de Rueda—possessing a velvety voice that stirred the audience—gave a sublime and moving performance of *O mio babbino caro* that left listeners spellbound.

Following an instrumental tango interlude featuring Carlos Gardel’s *Por una cabeza*, Rebeca delighted the audience with María Grever’s *Te quiero, dijiste*.

In the final segment, the tenors joined voices for Agustín Lara’s *Granada*, and subsequently, Rebeca de Rueda and Eduardo Tapia moved the audience with *Amor eterno* by composer Alberto Aguilera (Juan Gabriel).

*Ovation and festive finale*

At the program’s conclusion, the audience offered prolonged applause and enthusiastically called for an encore. Responding to the crowd’s affection, the CULTURA Mazatlán ensemble performed the patriotic songs *México lindo* and *Viva México*—by Chucho Monge and Pedro Galindo—bringing an unforgettable musical evening of the Autumn-Winter Season to a close.
