As part of the 2026 Sinaloa Cultural Festival, the Cervantino Circuit presents the acclaimed French choreographer in a powerful, intimate performance at the Ángela Peralta Theater.
The power, elegance, and rebellious spirit of international contemporary dance will take the stage at the Ángela Peralta Theater with the arrival of French choreographer and dancer Leïla Ka. She will present her acclaimed work *Maldonne* as part of the 2026 Cervantino Circuit and the 2026 Sinaloa Cultural Festival.
The event for Mazatlán audiences is scheduled for Sunday, October 18, at 7:00 PM. In this performance—supported by the Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art—five dancers will embark on an intense physical and emotional journey. Forty dresses will undergo ceaseless transformations, acting as layers of identity situated between skin, mask, and memory.
Having trained in urban dance styles before venturing into contemporary dance, Leïla Ka has rapidly established herself as one of the most brilliant creators on the European choreographic scene.
In *Maldonne*, clothing transcends its purely aesthetic function. Each dress evokes the various facets, impulses, and emotions that shape women’s lives. Through a shifting rhythm that explores everything from fragility to the desire for liberation, the piece addresses femininity in all its complexity, contradiction, and humanity.
The word *maldonne* implies carelessness, misunderstanding, or a misdeal; however, for the choreographer and performers, the meaning is clear: it is a cry of rebellion from women who dress and undress, revealing diverse identities. El Cervantino Crosses Borders
