The exhibition brings together various techniques the artist explored during her training, including printmaking, drawing, watercolor, collage, and charcoal.
The result of years of research, curiosity, and artistic exploration, creator Yaz González will present “Cosmogonías” (Cosmogonies), an exhibition featuring approximately 20 works that continues a project begun during her final year of studies. The opening takes place this Friday, September 4, at 7:00 p.m. at Galería Rubio.
The artistic concept addresses the various explanations—constructed by diverse cultures around the world—regarding the arrival of human beings in this world, exploring cultural and historical perspectives, fiction, and even conspiracy theories.
Of the nearly 20 pieces making up the exhibition, seven are original works presented as her final academic project, while the rest were developed specifically for this show starting in July.
For the artist, *Cosmogonías* represents much more than an academic project; it embodies questions and interests that have been with her since childhood.
“*Cosmogonías* holds a lot of who I am. I don’t view it merely as a final-year project, but as the work of many years, because since I was a child, I’ve been drawn to things that fall outside the official narrative. I always had doubts about what I was being taught and found contradictions, so I began researching on my own,” she shares.
The work also reflects her interest in reusing and reinterpreting objects, incorporating reclaimed materials to imbue them with new meanings within the pieces.
“I feel that everything I researched out of personal interest has led to this moment. I don’t see it as an end, but rather as a beginning,” she notes.
The exhibition brings together various techniques the artist explored during her training—including printmaking, drawing, watercolor, collage, and charcoal—creating a diverse body of work that represents her creative and research process. Almost all the works will be available for sale, so in addition to experiencing the artistic vision, attendees will be able to purchase pieces from the project.
The exhibition takes place this Friday, September 4, at Galería de Rubio at 7:00 PM. Admission is free!
