History

The Municipal Institute for Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlan is a public organism separate from the Municipal public administration, with legal personality and its own patrimony, empowered to take actions in the field of promotion, dissemination of the culture and art education in the municipality of Mazatlán.

The Instituto de Cultura was created on 02 July 2005 with the conviction of stimulating artistic creation to teach and transform an element of society. Cultura organizes Carnival of Mazatlán, directs and manages the schools and workshops the Municipal Arts Center (CMA) and the Angela Peralta Theater, among other things.

The Institute works to improve the artistic quality in the municipality and project the talent of its artists and creators. In search of this goal, it promotes the professionalism of the CMA students, produces theatrical performances of a high level and promotes the cultural exchange with other municipalities, states, and countries.

Cultura promotes and disseminates culture and art as inalienable values of human beings. Raising awareness through proven stage quality shows, to form new audiences for performing arts appreciation and place to Mazatlan in a privileged position within the tourist – with culture, included among its priorities. The Institute works with its own resources, receives support from the three levels of Government to develop specific projects and civil society that works in their programs.
