Classical guitarist
René Báez de la Mora, begins his studies at the Municipal School of Music “Maestro Enrique Patrón Rueda” with maestro Luis Frayde Sánchez in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
From 1995 he was a student of the teacher Heriberto Soberanes Lugo in Culiacán, Sin., Within the School of Music of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa. He joined the National School of Music of the UNAM in 1997 where he finished his studies of the Instrumental Bachelor’s degree in the Guitar area, obtaining honorable mention in his professional exam, taking the chair with the teacher Alfredo Rovelo García.
Since then he has been developing an intense artistic activity in forums of different cities of the country, either in academic events, cultural weeks, meetings of youth orchestras, cultural festivals in Mazatlan 1999 and 2002, he also participated in the International Guitar Festival in Culiacán 2002 , V International Festival of the UNAM 2006. He has given several radio concerts of Radio UNAM, in 2008 he made a recital in Valencia, Spain, in 2009 he participated in a chamber music cycle in the Sala Carlos Chávez, in two editions Palo Escrito Festival, in that same year he coordinated and participated in the concert cycle “Musicologists also play” at the ENM and participated in a guitar cycle at the Carlos Chávez hall, in this year 2011 he performed at the Juarez Theater of the city of Oaxaca as part of the Sicarú duet.
He is director and arranger in the Zoot Manouche ensemble, a gypsy jazz quartet with French music from the beginning of the last century, combined with music by Germán Valdés “Tin tan”.
In Mexican music, his Pulque ensemble for two, with guitar and psaltery, tries to spread the music of the concert hall and of the second half of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX. It also belongs to the assembly La mar (traditional Mexican).
He has taken improvement classes with the teachers. Heriberto Soberanes Lugo (Mexico), Flavio Cucchi (Italy), Jesús Ortega (Cuba), Roland Dyens (France) and Elliot Fisk (USA).
He is currently a professor and president of the guitar faculty at the National School of Music of the UNAM, giving guitar, harmony to the diapason and practices of harmonization, transportation and reading at first sight in the degrees of instrumentalist, Ethnomusicology and in Music Education, besides intern of the Master of Music in the area of musicology at UNAM. In the aspect of cultural promotion is president of the Guitar Society Mazatlan, A.C.
