The most sublime love stories for a couple interpreted through classical and neoclassical ballet conquered the audience gathered on Friday night at the Ángela Peralta Theater, the scene of “Tiempos de Amor” interpreted by the Mazatlan Ballet Company.
The artistic director of the company, Zoila Fernández Fernández, directed productions based on original choreographies by John Cranko, Roland Petit, Marius Petita, Jorge García, and dressed the piece Nuestros Valses with her own choreography.
The public enjoyed some of the most beautiful and celebrated ‘pas de deux’ in the history of ballet that recreate various expressions of love such as the love of Harlequin and Colombina, even love after death.
Spectacular charges, elevations, turns, jumps and an evident connection between partners, the product of many hours of rehearsals in the classroom, made possible a highly enjoyable staging.
Tiempos de Amor achieved important transitions in time and space through the costumes, set design, makeup, and artistic lighting by Víctor Ruiz, elements that together contributed drama, setting, volume, shadows, and contrasts to the show.
The set design by Víctor Manuel Carrizales and the costumes from the CULTURA sewing workshop by Elisa Espinosa further enhanced the work of the Company and gave the staging a professional touch.
The repertoire included the works: Onegin, Intermitencias del corazón, Arlequinada, Aguas primaveras, Nuestros valses, Muñecos y Majísimo, with music by Tchaikovsky, Camille Saint Saens, R. Drigo, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Juventino Rosas, Rembert Egues, and Jules Massenet.
In the artistic interventions, the dancers demonstrated their extraordinary physical strength and the dancers their exceptional balance and lightness when lifting, turning and dancing on pointe as if they were floating on stage.
With this staging, the cast demonstrated professional performance with the Ballet Company belonging to the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán that works under the rigorous artistic direction of maestra Zoila Fernández Fernández and that interprets the same classical, modern or contemporary ballet.
Tiempos de Amor is presented in its second performance this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Ángela Peralta Theater.
