Members of the Board of Directors of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán unanimously approved all the items on the agenda of the eighth ordinary session of the paramunicipal.

 

Held in the CULTURA meeting room, the session was headed by the Municipal President of Mazatlán, Edgar González Zatarain, and the new councilors Adda Sarahí Rosas Medina, current Secretary of the City Council, and Francisco Arce Camarena, as substitute for Ramón Salop Sánchez, were sworn in.

 

Among other points, the financial statements corresponding to the months of April, May and June 2023 and the budget expansion for June of this year were presented and approved.

 

It was reported that with the savings of 49 million pesos obtained in Carnaval as of June 2023, a 31 percent decrease in supplier commitments has been achieved, the scheduled events have been carried out, and investments have been made in infrastructure maintenance, purchase of equipment, and software updates to monitor school procedures.

 

At another point, the removal of 58 pieces of equipment that is no longer useful, such as computers, air conditioners and light plants, was unanimously approved.

 

The General Director of Cultura, Raúl Rico González, gave a detailed report on the finances of the paramunicipal, spoke about the production of artistic events that have practically been self-financing and with a good influx of spectators, and about the activities carried out at the Municipal Arts Center to improve its facilities and regularize the administrative and academic situation within the campus.

 

He informed that the procedures before the Ministry of Public Education and Culture continue but until today the release of 20 social service files has been achieved, the issuance of 41 certificates of technical level and the study plans were updated in the Bachelors of Contemporary Dance, Theater Art Technician, Ballet Technician and Fine Arts Technician.

 

Rico González confirmed that 453 thousand pesos contributed by the Ministry of Culture through the Mexican Institute of Cinematography have already entered the coffers of Cultura. The resources will be invested in equipment for acoustic isolation of the Cinema, an audio system and in the purchase of a projector.

 

Near the end of the session, a video was shown about the events presented in the Spring 2023 Season, which concluded on July 20th.
