With the show “Qué Buena es la MORENA”, the incomparable Alejandro García “Virulo” returned tonight to the Ángela Peralta Theater with the first big event of Spring Season 2019.
The Municipal Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan bet again on the full weight of the New Cuban Trova to reflect with laughter, self-confidence and ingenuity, a very peculiar route using the blunders, occurrences and tragi-comedies of the left movements in Latin America.
Since its emergence in Europe with the countries of the socialist bloc, its arrival in Cuba, the shock of this country with the United States and its presence in the recent history of Mexico, “Virulo” and his inseparable friend, the multi instrumentalist Rolando Valdés, doubled the Mazatlecan public over with laughter with anecdotes, jokes and songs.
Huachicoleros, Romanian vampires, an orange president who builds walls, blunders of language and a fleeting and delicious review by the history of the phrases, nonsense and political infamies of Mexico and the world, “Qué Buena es la MORENA” recalled that, in the face of tragedy, laughter is the best antidote to gather strength, look ahead and, in the case of “Virulo”, win the hearts of thousands of people in his exceptional artistic career.
