This morning at the Angela Peralta Gallery a press conference was held in which the details of two events were announced: El Festival Cuenta Historias “Güilo Mentiras” and the concert “Gala Lírica Mexicana”.

Maestra Zoila Fernández, Director of Artistic Coordination of the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan, highlighted the social importance that both events have, since in their activities they seek to form, from childhood, more sensitive and conscious citizens.

First, Ángela Camacho and Sergio García presented the program of the Second edition of the Festival that bears the name of the most emblematic work of the Cantabrian writer Dámaso Múrua, who died in March. The activities will take place from October 23 to 27 at venues such as Casa Haas, Center of Multiple Uses, General Secondary Schools number 1 and 2, primary schools, ENEF University, a Nursing Home and Plazuela Zaragoza.

Audiences of all ages will have the presence of 12 oral narrators, among which Benjamín Briseño, one of the most important oral narrators in the country; Meche Cadena, who will work from her “Brotes” program (dedicated to early childhood reading), Laura Medina, María Félix, Gaspar Velarde, Javier Chimaldi and María Muñiz, among others.

In addition, a training workshop for storytellers, teachers and the general public will be taught at the Casa Haas facilities. The workshop will be run by Benjamín Briseño and has a limited capacity. Subsequently, María Murillo, Director of the Ángela Peralta Choir; tenor Óscar Gómez and the soprano Wendy Bertoldi invited the public to the “Gala Lirica Mexicana” that will be held on November 9 at 8:00 p.m. at the Angela Peralta Theater and is a program dedicated to celebrating 27 years of a group which has impacted the social and cultural development of the port.

The presentation will consist of Mexican opera and music, a great opportunity for local and foreign audiences to enjoy an exquisite selection of arias and national themes. In addition, the participation of invited artists such as the pianist Antonio González, a pillar in the formation of Mazatlec singers, and Fernando Martínez, first soloist of the Ángela Peralta Choir and baritone highlighted at the national level.

Tickets for “Gala Lirica Mexicana” are priced at $200, 180, 150 and 100 pesos.
