On Saturday, June 10th from 7 pm to 12 midnight, Dia de la Musica returns, the traditional appointment with the musical genres of Mexico and the world in the streets of Centro Historico of Mazatlan.
The organizer of this festival, the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán highlights that the long-awaited party in the streets and alleys of the first stage of the city will bring together around 250 musicians and different musical genres in four stages: Plazuela Machado, Olas Altas and Constitución; Liverpool Alley and outside the Art Museum.

It will be a festival that will fuse the best of live music with visual arts, video games and electronic sound. An energetic, fun, rhythmic, contagious, warm, romantic and overflowing musical party to enjoy in a warm and familiar atmosphere.

Music Day has the purpose of promoting healthy social coexistence in public spaces, without losing sight of the original objective: to promote the beauty and architectural and historical value of the houses and buildings of Centro Historico and show the public -local, national and international- investment possibilities in the oldest tourist area of Mazatlán.

The walking fiesta in Centro Historico will begin at 7:00 p.m. with live music simultaneously on the four outdoor stages where around 250 musicians gathered in 16 groups will perform various musical genres to the delight of thousands of spectators.

In this new edition of Dia de la Musica, it is expected that about 25,000 spectators will gather for five hours of non-stop music on the 4 stages installed from Plazuela Machado to Olas Altas.

This dia de la Musica 2023, the public will be able to follow the live broadcasts of what will happen in each of the stages starting at 7:00 p.m. through www.culturamazatlan.com/cultura-tv-es/ and participate in the Photography and Video Contest with awards for those who achieve the best photos and videos of the festival. The material can be posted from Saturday, June 10th from 7:00 pm until Monday, June 12th at 6:00 pm. The videos must be uploaded to your personal Youtube channel and post the link on the Cultura networks, including the equipment, format and technique of photography and free video in the description. Videos with a duration of no more than 5 minutes. Number of photographs to send free.

PLAZUELA MACHADO STAGE

7:00 p.m. | pop concert

La Plazuela Machado will be the scene of the Pop Concert with the great pop songs that the passage of time has turned into generational hymns, themes that have topped the popularity charts worldwide, will be performed in versions orchestrated by Mazatlan musicians under the direction of Ana Elena Morales and Victor Osuna.

8:00 p.m. | Choir Angela Peralta

On the same stage, the best romances and choruses of Spanish zarzuela will shine with the intervention of soloists and members of the Ángela Peralta Choir under the direction of maestro María Devaki Murillo.

9:00 p.m. | Camerata Mazatlan

La Camerata Mazatlán under the baton of guest director Sergio Freeman Osuna will interpret the soundtracks of the most popular video games worldwide, it will be a different and playful night where music will accompany the movement of each game visible on the mega screen next to the main stage .

‘The Legend of Zelda’, ‘Tetris’, ‘Pokemón’, ‘Super Mario Bros’, ‘Dragon Ball Z’, ‘Knights of the Zodiac’, ‘Naruto’ and ’90’s Cartoons’, stand out in the repertoire that will be offered by the Mazatlán Camerata with the funniest and most casual music for video game lovers.

10:00 p.m. | Chéjere….contemporary Mexican music.

A cocktail of warm, overflowing and contagious original music that combines musical expressions from Mexico with rhythms and genres from the world with the intention of showing the contemporary of popular music, will be offered by the Chéjere group from Mexico City to close the event with a flourish at Plazuela Machado.

Chéjere is a group that adheres to tradition and enriches it, adding new instrumentation and expanding the range of textures, thus creating a new sound. This has been the work of the group for almost 20 years.

They have four record productions Nubes de sal (2016), Ojos de luna (2012), Villatrópico (2009) and two singles, their latest single is titled ‘Caminando’ and they have performed on stages in Mexico, Japan, China, Cuba, United States, Colombia, among others.

Their songs reflect the passion that their members offer to anyone who wants to be captivated by their melodies, lyrics and rhythms. With work firmly grounded in the multiple variants of the rich and complex Mexican song, Chéjere draws on the rhythmic richness of other Latin American genres to capture his own identity in his music.

Venustiano Carranza, outside the Art Museum

7:00 p.m. The Cryps

On this stage, next to the esplanade of the Art Museum on Venustiano Carranza street, Los Cryps will light up the band with the most iconic rock of the 50’s and 60’s.

Made up of Mazatlan musicians, the group will perform the most emblematic of Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, The Beatles and relevant artists from the golden age of rock in Mexico, such as Los Teen Tops, Los locos del ritmo, Los Rebeldes del Rock and The Carrion brothers.

8:00 p.m. | Sarah Holcombe and the Osuna Brothers Quartet

Romanticism will take its place on the Recuerdos stage during the performance of the virtuoso mezzo-soprano from Mazatlan Sarah Holcombe and the romantic and traditional Cuarteto Hermanos Osuna, who will offer the public a taste of the best-known songs from the golden age of bolero in Mexico.

‘Perfidia’, ‘Amapola’, ‘Sabor a mí’, ‘El Diccionario’, ‘Noche de ronda’, ‘Media vuelta’, ‘Cien años’, ‘Without you’, ‘Granada’, ‘Piel canela’ and a medley with songs like ‘Bésame mucho’, ‘Reloj’ ‘La luna y el toro’ and ‘Quizás quizás’, will be just a sample of the fruitful and long-awaited musical production of the bolero in Mexico.

9:00 p.m. | Las Chelas Disco Live Show

Known as Las Chelas Mazatlecas, they make up a group with a very peculiar style of interpreting music where power and female talent intersect to show girls that the music scene also belongs to them.

Notorious have been their performances during the Gloria Gaynor concert at the coronation of the Queen of the Floral Games and the parades of Carnavel Internacional de Mazatlán 2023.

The group is made up of Mariana Ortega and Mariana Pamplona (lead singers), Tanya Twain (guitar and vocals); Karla Veytia (drums and backing vocals); Ferni Cup (keyboards and choirs); Jules Vilchis (percussion and voice) and Linda Beerhouse (bass).

10:00 p.m. | Heidi Herrera

The extroverted Mazatlan singer Heidi Herrera returns to the stage with her applauded show What Women Sing.

Through her performance full of energy and shouts of encouragement that empower women, the popular interpreter will offer the public a tour of the great hits in Spanish of the Divas of the 80’s and 90’s.

The show, which at times becomes comical, is cathartic and liberating, especially for the women who usually accompany Heidi during the performance of the songs.

More than 20 years of experience as a singer and outstanding moments in her life as a passionate performer in the performing arts contribute to the professional career of Heidi Herrera.

Olas Altas
Between Constitution and Mariano Escobedo

7:30 p.m. | Percussion Ensemble

In Olas Altas facing the sea, the Percussion Ensemble of the Municipal Arts Center promises to put together a big party through the interpretation of works for percussion instruments.

Directed by maestro Max Carreón, timpanist of the Camerata Mazatlán and professor at the School of Music of the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, the group made up of students and teachers will offer a festive concert starting at 7:30 p.m. on the coastal walk.

8:30 p.m. | Banda la mas caliente

The Olas Altas stage will become a cheerful floor open to dancing and fun with the musical intervention of Banda La más caliente, a young group that managed to place itself among the public’s favorites with its liked and danceable ‘Potpurrí Caliente’.

The group merges the songs ‘La chona’ and ‘El baile del Sapito’ into a single musical cut, which opened the door for the Banda La más caliente, made up of 10 musicians, to become one of the favorites of the public, despite the recent launch of the band in April 2022 under the guidance of Juan Sánchez.

9:30 p.m. | Mazcandela Show Musical

Originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, the members of the Grupo Versatil Mazcandela Show Musical will take the stage of Olas Altas ready to immerse the public in an entertaining atmosphere and expected fun. Fifteen years of experience and 12 members will be enough to set fire to the night this Saturday, June 10th on the Olas Altas boardwalk.

Hits of ballads, pop ballads, cumbia, merengue, rock and regional Sinaloan music nourish his varied repertoire.

ROCK & FUSION STAGE
Liverpool Alley

7:00 p.m. | Go Elektra

A highly energetic musical show accompanied by an audiovisual show will be offered by the Go Elektra group at the opening of Music Day on the Rock and Fusion stage that will be installed in Liverpool Alley.
After closing a 12-year cycle with Los Insane, Frank, Juan and Tom decide to open the way towards a new musical route with the purpose of exposing concerns and ideas that were stranded somewhere along the way.
His first EP entitled “Óbice” came to light in March 2020 with four songs with powerful guitar riffs, aggressive basses and a melodic voice begin their presentations in Sinaloa. Go Elektra is currently finishing recording their second EP.

8:00 p.m. | LSDLBO

Los Supergenios de la Banca Oxidada (LSDLBO) are a sound braid originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
The project formed in 2019 has a published EP called “Celestino” which has taken them to tour different stages of the Mexican Republic. The recognition of the project has been consolidated in addition to music through urban art and clothing.

9:00 p.m. | Vitamina E

Vitamin E, is a band formed in the city of Durango at the end of 2019. Made up of Alondra Carrillo as harmonica guitarist and second voice; Ingrid Contreras as bassist and vocalist; Yael Valdespino as drummer and Sebastián Medina as melodic guitarist.
It begins with small presentations within the capital, but in 2021 the band enters the studio to produce their first record material which compiles some of the songs that highlight their surf punk sound with which they manage to launch onto the national scene and emerge as a proposal fresh.

10:00 p.m. | La Bande – Son Imaginaire

La bande-son imaginaire is a group from Oaxaca, currently the greatest new exponents of Mexican darkwave. Their electronic beats, theatricality and conceptual videos have placed them in the taste of diverse audiences. Today they are on a national tour; they have also performed at foreign festivals.

The group has achieved recognition in the music industry in the last six years thanks to its inclination for the sounds of synth pop, dark wave and French electronic music and has distinguished itself as a band close to cinema, theater and poetry, inspired by in artistic movements such as German expressionism, this is how they achieved the short film for “El Horror Jazz” and have made notable references to the writings of the French poet Charles Baudelaire for the music of “Macabre”, which together with “Laisse-moi faire” and ‘A gogoth’ are part of his new LP La Muerte en Vintage.

11:00 p.m. | DJ PapiPerez

DJ Papi Pérez’s musical project began in 2009. A music lover, his roots lead him to a very particular taste for cumbia and its variants. His attempt to connect with people while behind the turntables led him to create a more ambitious project.
Strongly inclined towards cumbia Papi Pérez follows the path of tropical rhythm to bring together under this approach various genres such as Hip hop, Moombahton, Bass, Global bass, Folk, Techno, House, Reggaeton, Dub, Pop and others, using samples, loops and other tools that come his way without forgetting the common thread that started his musical journey.
