The Municipal Center for the Arts will open a comics workshop on September 9th aimed at lovers of the so-called “ninth art” from 12 years of age and up.

The workshop will be taught on Saturday, registration costs $450.00 peso and monthly payment $500.00.

The objective of the workshop is that lovers of manga and comics have a bases to create, based on techniques, stories with the graphic nature that a comic requires from design, drawings and the way in which these stories should be told.

Scott McCloud, American essayist, comic book theorist, and author of “Understanding Comics” defines that: Any series of juxtaposed images deliberately placed to provoke an aesthetic reaction in the viewer or convey information, basically, any series of drawings that are next to each other and that tell you a story or give you some information, that’s a comic.

During the Comics Workshop, students will address: The history of Comics and Manga; character creation, literary genres, writing, scriptwriting, design techniques, drawing techniques, storyboarding and creating a comic.

The requirements are: A notebook, drawing block, drawing pencil and colors.
The Municipal Arts Center is located on Carnaval, Col.Centro, between Constitución and Libertad, at the Ángela Peralta Theater.
