Musicians who make up the strings, percussion and piano staff of the Camerata Mazatlán met again with the Mazatlecán public last Friday night at Casa Haas during the Chamber Music concert.

The old house located between Mariano Escobedo and Heriberto Frías streets witnessed the virtuosity, discipline and musical rigor of the instrumentalists who performed works by Samuel Mainez, Handel Halvorsen, Malcolm Arnold and Franz Strauss in the first part of the program.

At the beginning the audience applauded the performance of ‘Romanza’ with the intervention of Citlali Cisneros and Victor Osuna, both from the string section; ‘Fantasy for trombon’ where the virtuosity of Juan Carlos Chavarría stood out, who left the stage ready for the performance of ‘Nocturno’ by Franz Strauss by Armando Salmerón and Miguel Rivera.

Victor Villalobos, Alain Valencia and Miguel Rivera also participated in the concert.

The repertoire took a turn and the instrumentalists of the strings, percussion and piano staff under the direction of Mtro. Arturo Romero offered a program of Mexican music that included: ‘Estrellita’ by Manuel M. Ponce, the famous boleros ‘Solamente una vez’ by Agustín Lara and ‘Bésame mucho’ by Consuelo Velázquez and concluded their performance with ‘Huapango’ by J. Pablo Moncayo, a universal work very suitable for these dates.

At the end of their performance, the musicians of the Camerata Mazatlán received applause and recognition from the public, who were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the concert.
