With a narrative populated by souls that come from the past and walk among living beings through the arts and in the form of ghosts, myths and legends, the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán celebrated Día de Muertos.

They continue among us, and with melodies they like, danceable ones that evoke their essence, and even their favorite choreographies were remembered by Mazatlan residents, tourists and foreign residents led by the President of Mazatlán, Edgar González and his wife María Teresa Apodaca, President of the Municipal DIF System, who cut the inaugural ribbon accompanied by the General Director of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán, Raúl Rico González.

In a festive atmosphere full of mysticism through “Leyendas del Arte” a tribute was paid to characters who contributed to the artistic and cultural development of Mazatlán and were remembered through a tour inside the Municipal Arts Center and the Ángela Theater.

The production of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, in coordination with students, teachers and creatives from the Municipal Arts Center, dazzled hundreds of spectators.

Around 200 artists, including musicians from the Camerata Mazatlán, contemporary dance students from the Higher School of Music and Singing, members of the Folkloric Ballet of the Instituto de Cultura, and dancers from the Mazatlán Ballet Company, took the public to an evocative world of the memory and legacy of the honored characters.

Perched on the stairs of the CMA and with the piece “The Secret Door”, young freshmen from the EPDM captivated with their fine movements in this nascent tour.
At the second station of the circuit came “Raíces” with folkloric rhythms, zapateado and the notes of the CMA String Orchestra performing typical songs such as “Huapango”, to evoke beautiful moments among the attendees.

The route continued with a digital show impregnated with colors and classic images that caught everyone’s attention on the stage of the Ángela Peralta Theater to witness “Forever Margarita”, a posthumous tribute to maestra Margarita Naranjo de Saa, with an epic piece performed by dancers to remember this outstanding teacher of the Municipal Ballet School with salsa, classical and tropical music.

Minutes later, the stage production turned 180 degrees with the EPDM dancers who, to the rhythm of “Big Spender”, dressed in period costumes, danced jazz on the different balcony levels and danced and sang the classic “Mi Gusto es”, sealing their number by putting together a puzzle with the image of Engineer Ricardo Urquijo between the seats in the orchestra area to remember this renowned cultural promoter.

In the final part of the tour, located in the TAP lobby, the public could see an immense altar with offerings to remember artists who advanced their step on the earthly plane such as maestro Antonio López Sáenz, Ricardo Urquijo, maestra Margarita Naranjo de Saa , maestro Carlos Ruelas, Carlos Ambriz, Max Corrales, Jorge Gorostiza, Fausto González, Héctor Olvera, Juan José León Loya, Antonio Haas, and maestra Mónica Osuna.

The closing of the tour to celebrate the Day of the Dead inside the CMA and the TAP was led by the Guillermo Sarabia Choir with the musical show “A los que se fue”, under the preparation of maestro Juan Pablo García.
