Individual exhibition No. 20 of visual artist Cecilia Sánchez Duarte

This Thursday, December 14th at 7:00 p.m. at Galería Rubio, visual artist Cecilia Sánchez Duarte inaugurates her individual exhibition No. 20 “Optical Prints”, which will remain open to the public until January 19th.

In this reunion with the public scheduled on the agenda of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2023, Sánchez Duarte presents wood and linoleum relief engravings of different sizes and formats.

The renowned visual artist uses her new printing technique which consists of achieving the perception of three-dimensionality with the use of layers of fabrics and lace. The fabrics are superimposed and when the viewer moves, the visual illusion of movement in the work is also achieved.

In the creation of her pieces, Cecilia Sánchez Duarte uses mixed technique with engraving, optical Art, kinetic art and happening.

The color palette is the result of the combination of colored fabrics, but the black and white of the traditional art of engraving predominates.

According to the author, it is called optical prints because when the viewer moves, the work moves simultaneously and the visual illusion produces three-dimensionality and kinetic art. These characteristics are qualities of Optical Art, which is a conceptual poetics that continues to evolve.

The optical prints exhibition will remain open to the public until January 19, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
