Inspiring and interactive afternoon, dozens of attendees experienced the “Dialogues of our history” program, where teacher and painter Juan Carlos Valdivia starred in the talk “El amor por el color” [ove for color], a narration about his beginnings as an artist, his evolution, and how the last decades have been, brushstroke after brushstroke.
The Cultural Corridor located in front of the Municipal Center for the Arts was the setting for young people, students, and people of all ages to hear the story of a teenager who had the initiative to evolve, by embarking on his adventure outside his native town of Barrón, Dedicate himself to the arts, and transcend in the face of all adversities.
He commented that his beginnings were not so flattering, because given his little or no experience, he faced rejection from some teachers, a situation that instead of taking him away from art made him more “hungry” to learn, transcend and be among the best in the class, a situation that occurred in a short time.
He pointed out that his experience as a teacher at the CMA has been productive and satisfactory, since guiding people to learn to create, others finding a talent they were unaware of, has been gratifying.
During more than 20 years as an artist, Juan Carlos Valdivia has had the opportunity to participate in various exhibitions, some collective, and has had the privilege of setting up some individually.
In the questions and answers phase, the young people were the most participatory, questioning his concerns, others recalled anecdotes in class, while some asked for advice; the exhibitor responded kindly and invited them to start their journey, and above all not to be influenced by the negative comments of some people.
At the end of the talk, the attendees gave him a final ovation, and shortly they asked about the academic offering that there is in the CMA and expressed their interest in learning painting at different levels: in workshops and in the Technical Career in Fine Arts, where students graduate ready to enter work in the world.
