With a selection of documentary films, national short films and the screening of two feature films and conferences with their creators, from Thursday, the 23 to Saturday, the 26 of May, the Documentary Audiovisual Exhibition 2019 will be held in Mazatlan.
Thanks to the work of the Municipal Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan, the second edition of MAD will be free and becomes part of Spring Season 2019, thus growing the variety of programs.
During the first day of activities three short films will be shown at 10:00 am, having as headquarters the auditoriums of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, the Higher Technological Institute of Sinaloa, and the Cultural Institute of the West. “What is about to be born”, directed by Yovegami Ascona; “La Caracola de Oro”, by Jhasua Camarena; and “The House of the Hops”, work of Paula Hoff, will be screened.
On Friday, at 7:00 p.m., different documentaries will be shown in the Cinema room, at 8:00 p.m., the conference with Director Carolina Plat will begin, prior to the “La Hora de la Siesta”, a film about the life of Emilia and Yeyé, two of the 49 minors who lost their lives in the ABC Nursery in Hermosillo, Sonora.
During the third day, at 6:00 pm in the Cinema there will be a conference called “Documentary: record, memory and representation”, the speakers will be the Maestro Diego Martínez, Isaac Ruiz and Carolina Plat, invited filmmakers.
At 8:00 pm and before the film “El Charro de Toluquilla”, there will be a conference with its Director José Villalobos, a work that deals with the life of an HIV-infected Mariachi, who must choose between maintaining his lifestyle or raising his daughter, who was born miraculously without him.
