Everything that begins has to end, like the life of Gerardo, one of the protagonists of “Conejos en el valle de la muerte”, a work directed by Ángel Norzagaray who received recognition and marked the end of the 2019 season of the Escena Mazatlan International Theater Festival.

Renato, Mario and Gerardo took the applause as well as the respect of the audience that met at the majestic Angela Peralta Theater, where with the play written by playwright Daniel Serrano, used their imagination to touch topics such as homosexuality, death, and the controversial cases of health that are taken to congresses, which for some are unprecedented practices that must be approved, while for others the answer is the opposite.

At the beginning of the play everything was laughter with the discussions of lovers Renato and Gerardo, then Mario, who with political issues, had different opinions.

Everything changed when Gerardo reveals to Renato that he has cancer, a moment that left everyone breathless and silent.

Time elapses and little by little the last will of the patient, who asked to go to California to Death Valley, is fulfilled. The three go to observe a shower of stars, and it is there, where the protagonist reveals his intentions and decides to die how he planned in recent months.

In the end, the audience cheered the actors. Maestro Ramón Gómez Polo, Director of the Theater School of the Municipal Center of Arts, took stage. He gave a few words of thanks for the successful season that was ending; Maestra Zoila Fernández, Artistic Director of the Municipal Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan, granted recognition to the Guasavense who said she was happy to join celebrities such as Ignacio López Tarso, Elena Rojos and others who also received the award.
