This Saturday, July 25 at 6:00 p.m., the program “Sabados de Ópera” will broadcast “Elixir de Amor” (elixir of love), the classic by Gaetano Donizetti that the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán offered at the Angela Peralta Theater in 2005.
“Elixir de Amor” is a buffa opera that tells the love story of “Nemorino”, a young peasant and “Adina”, a rich, beautiful and capricious landowner. However, the lovers will have to overcome the opposition of “Doctor Dulcamara”, a skilled charlatan who offers “Nemorino” a bottle of a magic liquor capable of remedying all ills and consummating their romance.
Without a doubt, one of the centerpieces of “Elixir of Love” is “A furtive tear”, one of the most famous and celebrated arias in the world operatic repertoire.
This tropicalized version of the “Elixir…” had the participation of the Sinaloa Symphony Orchestra of the Arts, the Angela Peralta Choir and Dance Tellez. The artistic cast was headed by concert director Enrique Patrón de Rueda; Antonio González, in the direction of the Choir and Lourdes Tellez in the dance direction.
Javier Camarena, José Adán Pérez, Rebeca Olvera, Josué Cerón and Patricia Pérez were in charge of interpreting the characters of this hilarious opera.
The transmission of “Elixir de Amor” can be followed through Facebook, in “Cultura Mazatlán”.
