The student of the Opera Workshop of the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán has an international agenda ready

After her return from Spain where she perfected her Rossinian repertoire and had a successful participation in the “Carlo Morelli” National Singing Contest – she managed to reach the semifinal stage, mezzo-soprano Rosa Ferreiro returns to the stage transformed into ‘Mercedes’, at the “Carmen” Opera Gala, this Sunday, June 18th at the Pablo de Villavicencio Theater in Culiacán.

Despite her youth, Ferreiro is advancing steadily towards the consolidation of her career as an opera singer and she is positioned among the most outstanding young voices on the national lyrical stage.

The student of the Opera Workshop of the Municipal Center of Arts of the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, has been formed under the tutelage of the maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda and on this occasion she has been invited by the outstanding Mazatlan orchestra director to sing the role of ‘Mercedes’ at the “Carmen” Opera Gala with the accompaniment of the Sinaloa Symphony Orchestra of the Arts, on June 15th and 18th.

The lyrical interpreter is very grateful to the CULTURA School of Music for her teachings, for the opportunity to perform on stages in Mexico and for the support and facilities to perfect her technique, voice and stage presence in prestigious academies in Europe.

This Sunday, June 18th, at 12:30 p.m. accompanied by OSSLA under the direction of maestro Patrón de Rueda, the mezzo-soprano from Tijuana, B.C., will sing three arias in the role of ‘Mercedes’, a participation that fills her with pride. and motivates her to continue in this profession.

“Since I returned from Europe I have not stopped working, I went directly to Beethoven’s Ninth in Mazatlán, I have continued with rehearsals, right now we are with this Gala de Carmen, by Georges Bizet, with Maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda, and it is a teaching totally being directed by him, I know him, he is my vocal teacher, but it is different to work with him on stage, being a singer and him being my director”, she exclaimed.

Rosa Ferreiro was in Spain a month ago in the city of Valencia where she went especially to prepare herself in the Rossini repertoire with the expert Rubén Sánchez-Vieco, director of the Accademia Rossiniana and director of the Rossini Opera Festival.

She considers that during her stay she acquired a great education, she learned how to be an artist, and she understood that she has to study to face the stage world.

In her training in the CMA classrooms, the talented artist has created a special bond with her teachers Juan Pablo García, Martha Félix, José Miguel Valenzuela, and especially with Maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda, whom she fully trusts to excel in the world of the opera.

“I am learning so much, that is the reason to continue on this path. Maestro (Enrique Patrón de Rueda) takes great care of you, you feel sheltered when you are singing with the orchestra, I feel very safe because I know that I don’t have to put my voice in, I don’t have to exaggerate anything because the maestro will take care of me with all the OSSLA musicians, it’s wonderful to be able to work with him, and I look forward to continuing to do so.”

Short-term plans for Rosa Ferreiro are ambitious and she hopes to visit different parts of the world; In August she will be competing in Zapopan, Jalisco in the Linus Lerner International Singing Competition.

Ferreiro intends to apply for the Radio Filarmonía Contest in Peru to be held in October. In addition, there are projects in Mazatlán for November, another in March in Culiacán, she has been invited to a Gala in Ireland, and she has the opportunity to return between March and June 2024 to the Accademia Rossiniana in Valencia, Spain.
