Bass Baritone José Miguel Valenzuela and Tenor Eduardo Tapia merge their passion for lyrical singing and unite the first syllables of the registers of the male Bass and Tenor voice to give name, shape and content to “BassTen”, an opera concert filled with works written and performed in different languages.

During the concert that will take place this Saturday, October 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Casa Haas, maestro Juan Pablo García will accompany the soloists during their interpretations of works written in German, French and Spanish.

The German repertoire will be from Lied (a characteristic song of German romanticism, written for voice and piano) to opera and songs that are not commonly heard will be covered, it will be a little-known repertoire, but quite interesting and beautiful.

Music by Austrian composer Franz Schubert and famous German composer, conductor and pianist Felix Mendelssohn will be performed. One of Schubert’s pieces “Du bist die ruh” will be enjoyed in the high and powerful voice of Tenor Eduardo Tapia.

The repertoire in Spanish will include pieces by various Latin American composers, such as Manuel M. Ponce with “El nocturna de las Rosas” which will be performed by Bajo José Miguel Valenzuela.
BassTen promises a very familiar program, with songs popularized in the Spanish language, among them: “Déjame llorar ”, “Siempre” and “La negra noche”, famous in the voice of Pedro Vargas and Jorge Negrete and “La Rosa y el Sauce” ” by Carlos Guastavino in the voice of Eduardo Tapia.
