José Miguel Lora Briseño, bass baritone, will play Glugielmo (Guillermo), Anna’s father, in the opera ballet “Le Villi” that will be presented at the Ángela Peralta Theater on the 13th and 14th of October at 8:00 p.m.
One of the themes that the opera “Le Villi” addresses are the emotions that arise after the loss of a daughter, in this story it is Anna, Glugielmo’s daughter who, due to a disappointment in love, will die. It is worth mentioning that the libretto of “Le Villi” is based on the story Les Willis by Alphonse Karr.
In an interview, bass-baritone José Miguel Lora talks about this story.
“It is a tragic work, but just because it is tragic does not mean that it is bad, on the contrary, within these types of situations it makes us see a reality of the things that can happen.”
“Roberto gets engaged to Anna, when Glugielmo gets engaged he adopts him as a son, except that Roberto has just inherited a fortune and has to travel to collect the inheritance, so the whole town is happy for the wedding and because this boy got very good assets, here the problem comes when during the trip he is bewitched by a sorceress and she seduces him, other people comment that it was rather the riches that drove this boy crazy.”
“In Glugielmo’s aria he curses Roberto, he shouts at him saying, ‘Ungrateful, because you came here and took my daughter from me!’ What did she do to you to make you do this to her? He asks the villis if there is any way they can avenge his daughter’s death, and that if he, Glugielmo, finds out that his daughter’s spirit has been avenged, he will be able to die in peace. “adds José Miguel Lora.
“I don’t want to reveal the ending, but something I like about this type of production is that they deal with magical themes, it is the creativity of the directors, so that with few resources or without special effects these fantastic scenes can be achieved, I love it. The audience that comes will enjoy the stage, the dancers are incredible and the Camerata involves the audience in these scenes,” he concluded.
