The premiere of “Le Villi” means a great opportunity that marks the return to the stage of soprano Rebeca de Rueda who will move the public with her unmeasurable, romantic, obsessive and deadly love.

Happy, excited, Rebeca de Rueda attends the rehearsals and prepares to take on the role of Anna, along with her husband, Tenor Alejandro Yépez, who will personify Roberto in the opera – ballet that will tear another page off the calendar of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2023.

Grateful for her invitation to participate in the premiere of this production of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, the performer talks about her next performance at the Ángela Peralta Theater.

“(Le Villi) is a beautiful piece, it is short, the story is very melodramatic and rich to interpret, it tells the love between Anna and Roberto, who leaves her side to receive an inheritance and falls into temptation (he betrays the love that he has for Anna) and in the face of infidelity she dies of sadness.”

The virtuous soprano narrates that in this story with music by the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, we can see how the souls of abandoned women wait for their unfaithful lovers, who are induced to the dance of death, giving life to the legend of “Le Villi ”.

“I feel happy, and very excited because it has been a long time since I did a complete opera, I had participated in theater in other types of events, so it is very enriching to prepare a character. Since Alejandro (Yépez) the protagonist is my husband, it is the first time that we are going to participate together as a couple in the opera, it is very beautiful and it is a challenge because we have a 2-year-old baby who requires a lot of attention, it has been an odyssey to prepare both,” exclaimed the protagonist.

Rebeca de Rueda explained that in this production there will be a lot of love because everyone has known each other for many years, there are couples, friends, which makes everything very familiar, the director, choreographer, the ballet, everyone is a family in the theater, that too It is what makes each piece in Mazatlán special. From the stage performers who are also part of the artistic family, there is a lot of affection and you always feel that complicity, which is why going to the theater in this city is very warm.

“Every day is deeper, it seems like a simple role, but there is something so beautiful in music, and so profound to express that it is like this excessive, romantic, obsessive, mortal love that I have to exclaim in a single hour, or in less , in 20 minutes so that people can feel why the tragedy happens, so every day that we rehearse since I started working with maestro ‘Polo’ (stage director), there are many details that are added to the character and are enriching, I have enjoyed it a lot,” she concluded.

To witness the staging of “Le Villi”, tickets cost $400, $350, $300 and $250 pesos available at the Ángela Peralta Theater box office, at Tel. 669 982 4446 ext 103 or at the digital box office at Whatsapp 669 120 00 20.
