It has been a gigantic odyssey to be able to perform the Mozart style, said Mezzo-soprano Rose Ferreiro, who will sing six different roles in MozArt, an opera – cabaret that will be presented this Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th, at 8:00 p.m. at the Ángela Peralta Theater.

The great show of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2023 produced by Escenia Ensamble in collaboration with the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán presents the life and work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart through scenes of four of his greatest musical creations: The Marriage of Figaro , Don Giovanni, Cosi fan Tutte and The Magic Flute.

“We are playing six characters in the same piece which is very difficult, we are going to cover scenes from Mozart’s most important work and it is important to say that there are very marked differences in these four great operas, they are the highlights – of the Mozart repertoire-, But all four have in common that it is a contemporary criticism of the social, that we can bring them to what is happening in our daily lives,” said Rose Ferreiro.

For us it has been a gigantic odyssey to be able to sing and act in the Mozartian style and represent it on stage; We have four operas so complex and characters so different, that we have to study everything that happened during the time in which Mozart and the librettists experienced in order to understand his work and transmit it to the public, she pointed out.

In turn, baritone Rodolfo Ituarte highlighted that to present MozArt the performers had to go through an intensive workshop of almost a year, investigate, learn in depth the life of the great composer from Salzburg, the context that surrounded his works to understand what was experienced in that time and to be able to transmit it to the public through the instruments of the orchestra, the human voice, dance and theater.

“As opera singers we are obliged to act, sing, dance, move, do pirouettes, do many things because the public has become more demanding and even though we have been working at MozArt for a year, we have been working and preparing ourselves vocally for years to be able to achieve the style of Mozart, which is very difficult but not impossible and requires a lot of time and dedication,” he stated.

The singer who trained under the tutelage of maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda highlighted the work of maestro Ragnar Conde, creator and stage director of MozArt.

“Ragnar has put all his time and dedication into us so that as opera singers we can flourish more and do more interesting things on stage, things that allow us to get out of our comfort zone and that is what Mozart is for us, flirting. Our performance with the stage and music without leaving the Mozart style is very difficult and interesting but not impossible. It is something that we are achieving and the public will be able to see it reflected in MozArt,” said the artist from Tijuana.

The cost of tickets to attend MozArt opera – cabaret ranges between $250 and $400 pesos, available at the Ángela Peralta Theater box office, telephone 669 982 4446 ext. 103 or through WhatsApp at 669 120 00 20.
