The main hall of the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City will receive this Saturday, July 29th, Delfos Danza Contemporánea with “Unfathomable Landscapes”, an interdisciplinary show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the prestigious company in style.

Performances in 25 countries, the creation of more than 90 choreographies and more than 60 interdisciplinary collaboration projects with national and international artists position Delfos as one of the most important contemporary dance companies in Mexico and Latin America.

“Unfathomable Landscapes” is an interdisciplinary project that will host the premiere of ‘Óxido’ created by Claudia Lavista and the revival of ‘Mínimal’ by Víctor Manuel Ruiz, works with which the iconic contemporary dance company will celebrate 30 years of experience during the 2023 Palacio en Movimiento Dance Season.

In the Delfos celebration the rresident company of the Ángela Peralta Theater will be accompanied by the SAFA Ensamble de Percussiones, an anniversary plaque will be unveiled and the photographic exhibition ‘Perpetual Movement’ by Martín Gavica Sáenz, artist, editor, producer and cultural promoter will be opened to the public, who will pay tribute to the dancers of the group.

‘Óxido’ is a stage reflection of what would happen if the hegemonic systems were thrown away, how would we reorganize ourselves? How can something be reconstructed from devastation?

The piece flows from the music of Mario Lavista and the live music will be provided by SAFA Percussion Ensemble; the scenery, costumes and lighting design are by visual artist Aurelio Palomino.

Víctor Manuel Ruiz highlights that his work entitled “Mínima” with music by Steve Reich, experiences the traditions of the state of Sinaloa, specifically to create a contemporary version of the “Danza del Venado” ritual as a starting point to conceive a metamorphosis between the dancer who transforms into a wild animal and the current furious extrahuman, who survived the permanent confinement due to the COVID 19 pandemic, within the large metropolises and their lack of nature.

Regarding the upcoming presentation of Delfos at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, teacher, dancer and choreographer Claudia Lavista expressed:

“We wanted to celebrate this 30th anniversary with something that has characterized us throughout this time, with collaborative projects, projects where various disciplines come together to generate a stage proposal that is rich and encompasses different pieces in artistic and aesthetic terms.”

The Secretaría de Cultura, the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, the Support System for Creation and Cultural Projects, the Coppel Foundation, the Sinaloan Instituto de Cultura, SAFA Percussion Ensemble and Escena 77 are vital elements of support and recognition carrying out this worthy celebration of artistic life.
