Young Mazatlan playwright Manolo Díaz, a teacher at the Theater School of the Municipal Center for the Arts, is back in the news, he won the ATI Award “Best Playwriting” in the 2023 Season in NY.
Artistas de Teatro Independiente (ATI) is a private Latino organization that works in New York City, supporting different actors, producers and organizations that do Theater in Spanish.
The ATI Award is given annually and recognizes the best productions in Spanish presented the following year in New York City. In this last edition they celebrated 13 years of history.
In addition to recognizing the Best Playwriting, the ATI Award honors Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Costume Design, and Best Lighting Design.

-He won first place in the International Theater for the Neighborhood Playwriting Contest with the play “La mesa purpúla”.
-He was one of the four finalists for the “Gerardo Mancebo del Castillo” National Youth Playwriting Award with the play Aviones, integrated into the book published by the Teatro de la Gruta Award.
– He obtained the PECDAS scholarship to write a play in the course of 2018.
– Creditor of a scholarship to attend the 38th Muestra Nacional de Teatro.
