This Tuesday at Casa Haas, the Vidalia Institute announced the opening of its next exhibition “De natura corporis”, on Friday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Sharp Hospital in Mazatlan.

The press conference was chaired by Fernando Alarriba, Dr. Virgilio Ángeles Zatarain, member of the Vidalia Group; Dr. Emma Rodríguez Choreño, Director of the Municipal Women’s Institute; Dr. Elsa Bojórquez Mascareño, Director of the Regional Center for Justice for Women and maestro Enrique Vega Ayala, who welcomed on behalf of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán.

In this meeting with the media, the creation of the Vidalia Arte project was highlighted as a commitment to the cultural development of Mazatlán to express more forcefully the capabilities that art has to heal and revitalize the lives of people and communities.

Sinaloa artists Carmen Torres, María Vez, Martha Parra, Majo Portugal, Ofelia Ramírez and Lucila Santiago participate in this second exhibition promoted by the Vidalia Institute with 17 pieces, which together are called “De natura corporis”.

“De natura corporis” (On the nature of the body) reflects through photography and painting on the richness of the female body and its ability to restore, heal, transform and create life by coming into contact with nature.

The exhibition will be open to the public until February 2nd, 2024, Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Free entrance.

When asked if the Vidalia Arte Project contemplates integrating women with workshops or apprenticeships so that patients develop some artistic virtue, Fernando Alarriba responded:

Yes, the first activity that we are going to have after the opening of the expo will be a workshop given on November 10th by teacher Claudia Lavista; The teacher has a very particular approach to what the body is, being a dancer and choreographer and the intention is that the women who attend the workshop achieve greater self-awareness through movement. We spoke with her and she told us that what she does not want is to be sharing towards artists, but towards the public in general and particularly towards patients, because it is an opportunity to generate that self-awareness, that process of healing and empowerment through movement, explained the cultural manager.

The curatorship “De Natura corporis” has been developed jointly by the artist Guadalupe Aguilar and writer Fernando Alarriba.
