For the first time in Mazatlán, writer Ivonne Reyes Chiquete will present her work “Muerte Caracol”, a novel that won the “Una vuelta de tuerca” award from the Queretano Institute of Arts. The author is a luxury guest of the “Literary Thursday” program, which with the support of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán will be presented this October 19th at Casa Haas.

It will be at 6:00 p.m. when the literary event begins where the Monterrey writer will speak about her work belonging to the crime novel genre, which in her own words “is an anti-black novel.”

The main character is “Carlos Sobera”, a hospital employee, who devours the story of Jeffrey, a serial killer who lives in the pages of the novel The Snail Killer, which establishes a spiral relationship in which the writer gives his voice to different characters in this thriller.

Ana Ivonne Reyes Chiquete is a communications specialist from the Universidad Iberoamericana and a graduate of the SOGEM School of Writers. She is the author of the plays “El Ajustador” and “Huele a chivo”. The first was a finalist in the Elena Garro Contest for the best dramatized reading and was on stage at the Rodolfo Usigli and Ana María Hernández theaters, in addition to having been anthologized in Escena con otro mirada by the Plaza y Valdés publishing house, compiled by Reyna Barrera (2003 ).

She is the author of the story “Dos segundos”, she obtained honorable mention in the Avón Argentina Cultural Foundation’s Story Contest in 2004 and was anthologized in 2005 in the commemorative edition of said contest “Cuentos de luz y sombra”. She has also written the stories ¿Y si llama al 911?” and “De Vuelta en U”.

The presentation of the novel will be led by poet María Muñiz, admission will be free and the doors of Casa Haas open 15 minutes before the start of the program that belongs to the billboard of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2023.
