In an atmosphere of amazement and curiosity before the stage set up in the square of the Francisco Villa neighborhood on the night of Friday, May 26th, the Ángela Peralta Choir musically delighted the attendees with the program “ Ecos de España”, made up of the best-known pieces of zarzuela.
The joyful evening of the Cultura in your Community program of Spring Season 2023, fulfilled the purpose of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán: to promote and create new audiences for the appreciation of fine arts.
Maestra Mary Murillo expressed: “Leaving the theater (which) is normally our home is important so that people who have not seen us know will get to know us.”
We are nourished by the people of Mazatlán, we need new people in the choir, so for me this type of event is very important because they get to know us and find out that they can be part of the choir, and that the choir is not an isolated thing and only for those who know about music, but are actually ordinary people who like to sing.
The Ángela Peralta Choir accepts people from fifteen years of age onwards, we have high school students, university students, active professionals and retirees, from all social classes and all professions, it is a very diverse choir, very representative of Mazatlecan society.
We do not want the repertoire that we bring to be too easy to assimilate, because that is already on the radio, in the street, so we bring a repertoire that, although it is in Spanish for people, is something new, and perhaps we sow the seed of curiosity and those who listen (later) investigate this type of music different from what they normally hear, he said.
Registration to be part of the Ángela Peralta Choir is open all year at the Municipal Center for the Arts, rehearsals are from 7 to 9 at night.
The Coro Ángela Peralta on Facebook publishes information about its activities and recent presentations.
