The piece is beautiful, with great richness of sounds and colors

The Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2023 begins this Saturday, October 7 at eight at the Ángela Peralta Theater with the concert “Misa Azteca” by composer Joseph Julián González; soloists Wendy García (Soprano), Rosa Ferreiro (Mezzo-soprano) and Eduardo Tapia (Tenor), the Ángela Peralta Choir and the Camerata Mazatlán will participate under the baton of the guest conductor Mtro. Gordon Campbell.

Given the importance of the concert due to the beauty, energy, uniqueness and originality of this work presented to full houses in important theaters and auditoriums around the world, Tenor Eduardo Tapia expresses his feelings on the eve of his performance.

“When I started listening to it I really liked the combination of rhythms, I liked the combination of languages that the whole piece has, and when I started studying it I said wow! It is very interesting how the voice merges with the instruments, the melodic line, and when I got to the part of the “Agnus Dei” (Lamb of God) it is my favorite part, because it goes from less to more, and the last part of that The number is very beautiful, the choir, the soloists and the entire orchestra get bigger and bigger.”

He adds that he will participate in four numbers and will interpret in the Nahuatl language, Spanish and Latin.

“For me it has awakened that curiosity, to say, I have never interpreted something like this! It is very cool, very interesting, I feel that it is a very rich work in many ways,” highlights Eduardo Tapia.

Finally, he considers that one reason to attend Azteca Mass is that it has something very different, very beautiful, very new and moves many emotions.

“It would be good for you to join us so that you can experience all that range of emotions, all that richness of sounds and colors, everyone who can come, attend.”

Eduardo Tapia was born in Mazatlán. At the end of 2012 he began lyrical singing classes when he joined the Guillermo Sarabia Choir directed by maestra Martha Félix and tmaestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda. Since then he has participated in various concerts, in ensembles and as a soloist in the Opera Workshop of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán.

His name also appears for interventions in operas such as Don Giovanni, L’elisir d’amore, Madame Butterfly, La Traviata, Romeo et Juliette, Trovador, Dido and Aeneas, Carmen, La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Il Signor Bruschino, Il Barbero di Siviglia.

In December 2019, he debuted as the Count of Almaviva in the opera Il Barbero di Siviglia by G. Rossini. He was a finalist of the XI Sinaloa 2019 International Singing Competition, and winner of 3rd place in the Katzarava voice 2020 competition.

Eduardo Tapia graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Singing at the Mazatlán Municipal Arts Center where he currently works as a singing and acting teacher.
